[headline]Referee Training A Success[/headline]

Like almost every sport, pickleball has rules and it’s the referee’s job to ensure the rules are followed. So if you are a tournament referee, you’d better be clear on what the rules are, exactly. Whether it is identifying a service fault, a non-volley zone violation, or checking the net height, referees need to be on their toes.

To support the upcoming Onix Kingston Pickleball Spring Slam, March 11 and 12, the PAO hosted a referee training program on February 25.  The program was held in Markham and led by Donna Leung, an experienced pickleball referee. It involved classroom as well an on-court practice.

The 16 participants found the training to be very valuable and were appreciative of the efforts of Donna, Sau Lin Wong, Merrie Lee, Grace Lopez, Edwin Maryuen and Dennis Sue.

The Kingston Pickleball Club is the latest club to become a PAO Affiliate Club.  Affiliate clubs enjoy benefits that the PAO can provide, like referee training.
