On Sunday, July 30, 2023 the Mono Pickleball Club(MPC) hosted a Fun Day Tournament for club members at AI from 10:00am to 1:00pm and a First Birthday party for our club from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
People were grouped into 8 teams of 6 and assigned a colour and captain. Each team was invited to dress in their respective team colour, create a unique hat for each player or a captain’s hat, wear a costume, create a cheer, birthday song or poem, make a poster or demonstrate the best spirit.
Many of the tournament participants were new to pickleball and to our club. Non-members were also invited to view the courts in hopes that they might consider joining our club and take up the sport of pickleball.
At the Mono Pickleball Club 1st birthday party each team from the tournament presented a birthday song or poem to celebrate the event. We all ate cake and had a wonderful day!
From its inception in July 2022 the Mono Pickleball Club has grown from 44 members to 165 members. Our 6 dedicated pickleball courts are under construction and expected to be opened this fall. The Mono Pickleball Club has definitely grown the game in the Mono, and Orangeville and surrounding areas.
