Volunteer Awards Criteria

The efforts and results of our volunteers continue to ensure the exponential growth of our sport in Ontario. Once again, Pickleball Ontario s recognizing the contributions of volunteers to our programs through our Annual Volunteer Awards.

If you would like to recognize a member for their efforts and successes in growing the sport of Pickleball in your community, show your appreciation by nominating them for a Pickleball Ontario award.

Submissions are due August 22nd 2025 and winners will be announced at this year’s Annual General Meeting.

Summary of Coverage

Wayne Roswell Builder Award

This award recognizes those, worked with Pickleball Ontario to establish program(s) in their region (city) which has resulted in the rapid growth of pickleball. Their enthusiasm and positive energy encouraged others to become involved in the development of the sport and work with Pickleball Ontario.

Community Award

The Community Award recognizes an individual who inspires others to actively participate in pickleball. This volunteer has given much of their time and effort to create or maintain programs in their community. Their leadership skills and positive inclusive attitude fosters a fun and enjoyable learning experience for all.

Merrie Lee-Ambassador Award

This volunteer ambassador has been a positive influence and has greatly impacted the way that pickleball has grown in their community. This person has not only shown leadership but has also increased awareness and participation of pickleball in their region. They have acted as a liaison between PO and their own community.

Officials Award

This individual has demonstrated a positive influence as a dedicated, skilled official, in refereeing pickleball at local, regional, or provincial tournaments. They are recognized by their peers as having given countless hours to improve the professionalism of pickleball as a qualified referee.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Nominees are eligible for consideration if:

  • they are engaged in volunteer activities that have resulted in making a real difference in enhancing pickleball in their community;
  • are a registered member in good standing of PICKLEBALL ONTARIO;
  • have not previously received the award previously;
  • they reside in Ontario.

Submission Requirements:

  • Completed nominations are to be submitted electronically to on the nomination form posted on the Pickleball Ontario website: info@pickleballontario.org by August 22nd, 2025.
  • The following information is to be provided in the submission.
  • Name of the nominee,
  • Name of Member Club,
  • Nominees contact information
  • Nominee’s accomplishments,
  • Nominator’s contact information,
  • Rational for the nomination-accomplishments
  • Include contact information for two support nominators.

All letters of support are confidential and will only be viewed by the selection committee.

 Nominator Requirements:

  • Nominators must reside in nominee’s community for Ambassador and Community Awards.
