Between Christmas and New Years, Markham hosted a tournament. The PAO sent a few players and their attendance was well received! Besides the usual pickleball matches, Edwin Maryuen was presented a certificate for his role in promoting the sport to the area. The photos taken by Kirk McDonald who was the city’s volunteer event photographer for the day.
A key highlight was the presentation of a Certificate from the City of Markham and the Mayor to Edwin Maryuen. He has been a key figure in promoting the sport of pickleball in the city. Although he is still working, he volunteers at the Pan Am Centre,is their convener to promote the sport, and as well is also the convener at the Cornell Centre. Through his leadership, ambassadorship and supportive partnership , the City has taken note and has engaged with him to expand the sport of Pickleball in the Markham Region. He certainly deserves the accolades and our recognition!
Take a look through the pictures. Notice in one all of the participants are doing some light stretching before matches begin – what a great idea! Congratulations to all the participants and Edwin for his hard work!
