The Pickleball Association of Ontario is pleased to introduce Seven New Board Members and the Newly Elected Board Officers

The Pickleball Association of Ontario (PAO) announces new officers and welcomes seven new leaders to its Board of Directors.

At the Board meeting held October 20, 2016 in Milton, Ontario Steve Phinney was unanimously elected as the new President and Chair of the PAO Board of Directors. Steve succeeds Joseline Sikorski who served as Treasurer during 2014-2015 and Board Chair for 2015-2016.

Additionally, Jim Parrott was unanimously elected to the position of Vice President as was Rose Cammaert who will assume the role of Secretary previously held by Bob Cook-Abbott from 2014-2016. The role of Treasurer, held by Martyn Homer for the fiscal year 2015-2016, will become the accountability of Allen Class who was also unanimously elected at the Board meeting held October 20, 2016.

In addition Derek Anam, Terry Elliott, Graeme Leney, Jeff Morgan and Steve Reynolds were elected at the Annual General Meeting in September to join Jason Hale who, for the past year, led the evolution of our web site and communication systems, as Directors at Large.

“It’s an exciting time for the PAO, this dynamic new Board brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and desire  to serve the interests and needs of both the recreational and competitive members of the PAO ,” said Phinney. “We are very fortunate to be able to build upon the vision, leadership and efforts of previous Boards.

Steve further commented that, “Under Joseline’s and the previous Board’s  leadership the PAO developed an aggressive strategic plan that prioritizes, above all else the engagement and retention of current and new members to the sport.”

The organization’s Strategic Plan is on the PAO web site and all members are encouraged to become familiar with it and provide constructive feedback or ask questions as why something is or isn’t included. As  it currently stands, it is the  foundation from which we will continue to build and  invest.

The list of PAO’s current Board of Directors and brief biographies are available at https://pickleballontario.org/about-us and will be enhanced, over time, to include what particular strategic initiative will be championed by whom; the intent of which is to better able members to have a meaningful dialogue with those that are leading each initiative.

Passing on the baton

At the Annual General Meeting it was announced that in addition to Joseline, Bob and Martyn leaving the Board two other members had stepped down due to term limits or other factors, Art Krahn and Patricia Archambault. “We are extremely grateful to both these people for their dedicated service to PAO. Their passion and wisdom have made PAO better and stronger than it would have been without them.” said Phinney. He went on to say “We will certainly miss the contributions of the outgoing Board members, and as a new Board we will strive to provide the energy and fresh perspectives that members and previous leaders expect.”
